    Aesthetics

Despite the material (many plastics) I find something comforting in this model.
There is something in this Japanese mechanical pencil.
A simple design, very clean, slightly futuristic.
Strangely it is the cap which gives this futuristic note and design to all.
It is an extension of the body and thus fits perfectly and finishes pencil gently.
The text typography must also play because it is a little more modern than usual.
The plastic body appears to be of high quality.

    Grip

The grip is quite good. It reminds me of car tire or a handful of mountain biking.
The texture is not smooth and reminds raw rubber.
Like a tire, it is carved. That is to say, he has a lot of bumps and grooves.
The result is good, the fingers do not slip.
The bumps are a bit soft which increases user comfort and grip grip.

    Mechanism

The mechanism is classic, you must press the button to exit the mine.
Reloading is done by removing the plug and the gum to access the reservoir.

I have not managed to dismantle anything but the tip so the mechanism is not replaceable.

I have not been able to verify on the other models, but apparently when it once the button is pressed, the mine advance of the length of the diameter of the mine that is to say that for my model if j restraints on the button the mine advance of 0.3 mm.
This mechanism is very specific for the range of the mechanical pencil!

  2. Main Features :

    Full title:
    PENTEL SHARP 0.5 QS55 Japan 1A

It is a mechanical pencil that is made to accompany a calendar.
        Rechargeable
Small (118 mm long and 6.8 mm in diameter)
        Cap to protect the tip
        Metal coated plastic body

There are six colors for the pencil body:

    Aesthetics

I find this very successful aesthetically pencil.
All outskirts of the choice of colors is really nice and varied.
The colors are all tailored to a female audience as masculine.
There are lots of chrome parts, giving a voice to all distinguished.

Then there's the small details make the difference:

The text on the body is very discreet and in a simple font and pretty:

The end of the clip is made of transparent plastic and is integrated intelligently:

The metallic effect of the body:

And especially the immensely class effect (I know I added a bit) that gives the chrome cap:

    Grip:

Why a grip section if there is no grip?
Well just to say that there is no grip!

    Is it very serious?
I would say no, because the goal of this pencil is precisely to be used quickly to take notes in a diary.

But be aware that the writing comfort is not there.
The metal used is very soft (in the smooth sense) so the pencil glides.
Like all metals, it is hard so your little soft and cozy fingers will not be flattered to their fair values.

    Mechanism

The mechanism is classic: you press on the push button to exit the mine.

10 presses on the push button = 5 mm of the outlet face.

    Clip

This clip is simple and pretty.

It consists of a metal sheet which has been folded to obtain the final shape and a portion of translucent plastic.

This plastic part is done well, because it is shaped like a semicircle.
This avoids accidents when the mechanical pencil is taken (ripped?) Violently.
I refer in particular to the pocket of a shirt when you catch his pencil rapidly.

    Eraser

This is the classic gum Z2-1N type:

It is perfect for remedial work in a diary. Tip

This tip is the "little something extra" of the mechanical pencil. It is a marvel of ingenuity.

Simply because one can fit one of the caps above and thus protect the tip:

Looking at the cap a little more closely, we can see that it is drilled in the center.
Thus during transport, if you accidentally press the button, the mine can move forward.

    Two advantages:

The mine is not going to break or push the cap.
The mechanism therefore does not force does not deteriorate.

    Price

I paid 9 euros. I think it's a reasonable price because the materials are good.
All the outer parts of the rod are made of metal source from here.
Note that the body of the mechanical pencil is in translucent plastic itself inserted into a metal tube.

    Conclusion

As I explained before, this mechanical pencil is made to accompany a diary or a notebook.
And he is very successful in this respect: Compact, stylish, lightweight and well finished.

    The pros:

        Cap to protect the tip
        The colors offered
        The elegance
        The clip
    The + or -:

The plastic body (even if it is good)

    The - :

        User comfort

  3. TEST ROTRING 600 0.5mm
    The legend
Here, the long awaited test Rotring 600!

This mechanical pencil (with Rotring 800) was first exclusively distributed in Japan and has not been produced for a long time.
It was only in 2013 that the mechanical pencil is returned in the catalog of Rotring and distributed worldwide.

For a long time the pencil was a rare item sold on Ebay or specialized sites.
But I do not think this rarity is only because of the "cult".
This pencil is of excellent quality which for many defined the standard of professional mechanical pencil.

    The Rotring 600 unpacked
      The tip

The tip is welded to the nozzle, i.e. it can not retract.
This is perfectly adapted to the technical drawing because the tip does not play but is potentially detrimental during transport.
The mine is not damped out again confirming that this pencil is for technical drawing.

    Eraser

That is Z2-1N gum which is the most widespread on the market.
I note the absence of a needle which can be useful to clean the tip.
At the price of this pencil, I expected to see.

    Mine Dimmer

I have q'une thing to say: "Mine dimmer best in the world" (in my opinion of course).

    It can display 7 hardness:

        2B
        B
        HB
        F
        H
        2H
        4H

    The clip
It is standard with the brand name engraved on it.

    The grip

This grip is very good, much better than the Rapid Pro for example.
It hangs very well but slightly less than 25 925 STAEDTLER.

    Exploded view

    Price

The sale price on the official website is 30 euros.
This is a very good quality / price for the assembly precision and materials used.

    Conclusion

It is clearly aimed at a technical drawing pencil.
It is not too heavy and very well balanced.
So yes, it is not all options but the key is there.
If you are looking for a classic pencil on a desk that will remain: the mechanical pencil is for you.

    The pros:

        Almost all metal
        Grip
        Solidity
        Mine Dimmer
        Price
        Timeless design

    The + or -:

        Non-retractable tip
        Unamortized Mine
